Description
The flower of Banksia Spinulosa is a special sight! It's 6-7 cm wide and up to 15 cm tall and stands straight up like a candle in the tree! Too bad they flower in winter, while Christmas falls in the Australian summer!! Actually these flower spikes contain hundreds or even thousands individual flowers! The flowers attract lots of bees, birds and butterflies. The leaves are long and narrow. Hairpin Banksia grows as a shrub or tree and can get up to 6m tall. It's native to Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland and grows along the coastline and in forest and mountain areas.
