Description
This striking red and blue Parrot is a Crimson Rosella. The body is crimson red and the bird has blue cheeks, wings and tail and with black patches on the back. The Crimson Rosella is native to eastern and south-eastern Australia. They live in coastal and mountain forests, preferably wet forests. The parrots usually forage in small flocks, except in breeding season – then they stay in pairs. They have a varied diet of fruits, nectar, seeds, nuts and insects. They can also be attracted to gardens and can get used to people and eat out of your hand!
Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia
