Red-necked Pademelon, looking curiously at the camera. Pademelons are among the smallest of the macropods (the same family that wallabies and kangaroos belong to). Macropod literally means big foot and refers to their large hind legs and feet which they use for jumping. Pademelons hide out preferably in dense rainforest and are mostly nocturnal but can be seen at dawn grazing in open spaces - always ready to find cover though! Red-necked Pademelons can obviously be recognized by their rufous coloured neck, shoulders and forehead. Taken in South East Queensland, Australia
