Description
Diamond of the Everglades. An Everglade is a tract of low, swampy land characterized by tall grass and branching waterways, according to the dictionaries. We probably all have heard of the Everglades in Florida but did you know a similar ecosystem exists near Noosa in Queensland, Australia? Found at the same latitude, it has a very similar subtropical climate and is home to an abundance of bird- and other wildlife. The riverbanks in this area are mainly lined with Paperbark and Bloodwood trees. It’s a stunningly beautiful place. Upper Noosa River has been nicknamed the River of Mirrors due to the beautiful reflections in the dark tannin-stained water. In this image the reflection of the tree trunks creates an interesting diamond shape in the landscape.
