Description
Double-barred Finch Feasting. This pretty little bird is feasting on grass seeds.
Double-barred Finches are easy to scare. They belong to the grass-finches and flock in groups of up to 40 birds and feed on grass seeds. They can also take insects, especially when breeding. Their name refers to the 2 narrow black bars across their chest that contrast with their white chest. The top bar goes all around their face which resembles the mask of a Barn Owl! Further the bird is grey-brown and has black wings, speckled with white dots. You can find them across northern and eastern Australia, around into Victoria. This image was taken in south-east Queensland.
