Eastern Great Egret Portrait
The largest of the Australian white egrets is fishing in the shallows of a large lake. The blue water forms a nice backdrop for a portrait of the white-plumed head of the egret. The bird has a yellow bill with a black tip and a yellow eye and a distinct black line from the beak just past under the eye. The soft late afternoon light provides perfect conditions for this portrait.
Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
