Description
The Eastern Whipbird is often heard, but rarely seen. It is a very elusive bird that lives in the rainforest or dense undergrowth in other woodlands in eastern Australia. So even when seen, it's difficult to photograph as the dense foliage of the undergrowth is always dark, especially in the rainforest. It is a medium sized bird, 25-30cm. It has a prominent crest and a long tail. The crest, head and breast are black, the back and tail are olive-green. The bird has a prominent white patch on the throat. The Eastern Whipbird is most known for its beautiful call. The male produces a loud whip-cracking call, which is answered by the female with a 'chew-chew'. Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
