Flock of Ibises roaming the Wetlands. The Australian White Ibis has been nicknamed the 'Bin Chicken' in urban areas and the 'Farmer's Friend' when they feed on locusts in areas where locust plagues threaten to devour the crops, but here in the Wetlands is where they belong and where these graceful birds are in their element!
They are mostly white, except for the black head, neck, legs, feet and some plumes at the tail. The birds are common through large parts of eastern and northern Australia and also increasingly in western Australia. With their long bills they dig for crayfish and mussels which is their favourite food.
Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
