Goanna Camouflage. The Lace Monitor, also knows as a Goanna, is a very large and powerful lizard. It can grow up to 2m long! These lizards are native to eastern Australia. They live in forests and woodlands and are an arboreal species. At the slightest disturbance they will climb a tree to be out of reach of the danger.
Their scaly skin with grey-ish, black and cream-coloured patterns blends in so perfectly with the tree trunk that you barely see them!
Lace Monitors are carnivorous and will eat anything that they can overpower, they will also eat eggs and scavenge for rotting meat. They have a large, forked tongue that they use in a similar way that snakes use theirs: searching for the scent of prey in the air.
Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
Goanna Camouflage is a tall vertical image that would fit well on a narrow strip of wall.
