Description
Intermediate Egret on the Hunt This white egret is about 65cm tall. It is holding it's long neck in an s-shape, ready to strike out at prey. It hunts in shallow water and feeds mainly on fish but also on any other small animal it can find, such as molluscs, amphibians, aquatic insects and reptiles. It has a yellow bill which becomes red during breeding season.
It's range expands throughout northern and eastern Australia and it can be seen in a great variety of wetlands. Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
