Description
Lace Monitor Close Up
The Lace Monitor or Goanna is the second largest monitor in Australia. It's native to eastern Australia and can get up to 2 metres long! They have beautiful black and yellow patterns on their scaly skin. Notice this one is especially handsome with a blue colour on some of the scales of its underparts and golden rings around its eyes, quite stunning!
They spend time in trees as well as on the ground, hunting for insects, reptiles, small mammals, birds, and birds' eggs. They can sometimes be found attacking poultry and eggs at farms or at properties in a bush environment.
Taken in South East Queensland, Australia.
