Description
Look At Me! Male Variegated Fairy-wren proudly showing off his magnificent breeding plumage, characterised by the striking blue forehead and ear coverts. It has a black throat and chest and a rich chestnut coloured shoulder band. When not breeding they moult into a plain brown colour. Fairy-wrens are very popular birds in Australia and live in family groups in the undergrowth of wooded areas. They like to hide in the thickets and never sit still so are challenging to photograph! Taken in South East Queensland, Australia.
