Description
Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo.
Proud male Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo showing off his crest and beautiful red tail. The Red-tailed Black-cockatoo is a large glossy cockatoo. It has a large crest. Males are all black, except for the bright red panels in their tail.
They feed mainly on seeds but will also eat fruit, berries, nectar, flowers and sometimes insects and larvae and prefer a woodland habitat. They are an active species and can be seen in pairs, small groups up to large flocks. They are mainly arboreal and generally do not accept observers in close proximity. They take off screeching loudly when disturbed.
