Description
Sacred Kingfisher in the Forest. The bird stands out in a blurred forest environment which creates an artistic effect.
Sacred Kingfisher, perched and in hunting mode. They swoop down and dive to catch their prey. The large pointy bill gets used to catch a meal, but these kingfishers rarely eat fish. They do prey on insects and other small animals. This bird can be found in coastal woodlands throughout Australia .
The Sacred Kingfisher stands out in the forest with its beautiful colours: the bright turquoise blue and greenish upperparts, tail and wings. The underparts are buff-white and they have a cream-coloured collar. A broad black stripe extends from the bill to the neck.
Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
