Description
Sacred Kingfisher with its beak wide open. It kind of looks like it's laughing!
The Sacred Kingfisher stands out in the forest with its beautiful colours: the bright turquoise blue and greenish upperparts, tail and wings. The underparts are buff-white and they have a cream-coloured collar. A broad black stripe extends from the bill to the neck.
The large pointy bill gets used to catch small a meal, but these kingfishers rarely eat fish. They do prey on insects and other small animals. This bird can be found in coastal woodlands throughout Australia .Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
