Description
A family of Wandering Whistling-Ducks are getting ready to enter the water, although there is a little hesitation happening It's all or nothing: when they go, they all go. So they stand frozen here for a little while. These ducks are mainly seen in northern Australia but can travel down the east coast. They are mostly brown, have a dark crown, bill and legs and a chestnut coloured belly. They feed on aquatic vegetation that they find on the surface or underwater, as well as insects and small aquatic animals. They prefer deep waters like lakes, lagoons and swamps where there are a lot of water plants and insects. Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
