Description
You can’t hide! Male Variegated Fairy-wrens have such bright, radiant breeding plumage, that even when they try to hide in the thickets it’s hard to miss them The breeding plumage of these tiny birds is characterised by the striking blue forehead and ear coverts. It has a black throat and chest and a rich chestnut coloured shoulder band. Seeing one is one thing, but taking a photo is a different challenge. They really never sit still and move around quickly in the dense bushes. Fairy-wrens are very popular birds in Australia and live in family groups in the undergrowth of wooded areas. Taken in South East Queensland, Australia.
