Description
Young Koala munching on Yummy Gum Leaves!. Koala Joeys wean off their mothers when they are a year old, from then on they rely completely on a diet of Gum Leaves or Eucalyptus leaves. Koalas can be found in open woodlands in coastal areas of eastern and southern Australia. Koalas are marsupials and with their soft grey fur they have a high level of cuteness. They are an important icon for Australia. They are however a threatened species. The biggest threats are deforestation, disease, increased urbanization, cars, dogs and bush fires. Taken in south east Queensland, Australia.
Numbers of this beautiful animal are seriously declining and they have finally been listed as endangered in 2022. I am so grateful to live in an area where there are still a few and you can imagine how special it is each time I see one. I am so happy to be able to share my images with you. To help save this beautiful species I have decided that when you buy a print of one of my koala images, I will donate 50% of my proceeds to the Wildlife Warriors' Koala Conservation Project.
