The Brown Huntsman Spider grows up to the size of a human hand! It's a common resident of Brisbane in Eastern Australia. Due to their size, hairyness, speed and ability to jump they send many people into a panic but in reality they do little harm to human beings. Their bites can cause local pain and some redness, itchiness and swelling but is rarely of medical significance.
Huntsman Spiders have crab like legs as opposed to Tarantulas. In nature they house under the bark of trees, but they are also well adapted to living in the nooks and crannies of houses. At night they come out and hunt on the walls and ceilings for insects. Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
