Description
Australian Magpie
One of the most well known birds in Australia is this large black and white magpie. It is related to the Butcherbird but a lot larger. It's eye is chestnut brown. The black and white plumage stands out against the background of green vegetation. They can be found in any habitat with trees that borders on open areas. They feed on insects and their larvae which they find on the ground. The Magpies are loved for their song and feared for their swooping behaviour which they use to defend their nests.
Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
