Description
Black-headed Skimmer Female. This dragonfly is perched on a reed stem. She has yellow-brownish colouring, as opposed to the black and blue of the male, which keeps her much more camouflaged. She can be recognized by the black dorsal stripe. The wings are clear and folded forward in rest. It is common in most of Australia, except the south-west. It is one of the most common dragonflies in the Brisbane area.
