Description
Ibis Feeding Chick
A special sight of this Ibis feeding a hungry chick on the nest! The Ibis feeds its chicks by regurgitating. It is amazing how deep the long bill of the chick disappears into the Ibis' throat!
Ibises breed in colonies and build their nests in trees. The Australian White Ibis is mostly white, except for the black head, neck, legs, feet and some plumes at the tail. The birds are common through large parts of eastern and northern Australia and also increasingly in western Australia. With their long bills they dig for crayfish and mussels which is their favourite food.
Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
