Description
Tawny Frogmouth in Palm Tree
Tawny Frogmouths look a lot like owls, but they're not! They are more closely related to Night Jars. They are champions of camouflage, very hard to spot when they try to mimic a tree branch. But surrounded by the green palm leaves, this one is not taking advantage of its ability to camouflage very well. Tawny Frogmouths have mottled brown feathers and bright yellow eyes. Their beak is very broad, like a frog's mouth, which gives them the name Frogmouth. Taken in south-east Queensland,Australia.
