Description
Pacific Baza Preys on Goliath Stick Insect
The Pacific Baza is a bird of prey. It is a medium sized hawk, recognizable by the distinct crest, the heavily barred underparts and the bright yellow eyes. The head, neck and breast are grey. It lives in forested areas in northern and eastern Australia. This bird has caught a giant stick insect for its meal. It's a Goliath Stick Insect. These insects are mostly green in colour, so well camouflaged amongst the Eucalyptus leaves, which is their favourite food, together with Acacia and Callistemon leaves. They are also found in northern and eastern Australia.
Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.
