Description
Yellow-faced Honeyeater - Lychenostomus chrysops or Caligavis chrysops
The Yellow-faced Honeyeater belongs to the group of masked honeyeaters. It has a black mask which is divided by a yellow band below its eye and a narrow white comma-shaped marking behind its eye. The upper parts are a dark grey-brown while the underparts are lighter and slightly streaked. The birds feed on nectar and pollen as well as seeds and insects.
These honeyeaters live in eastern and south-eastern Australian forests and woodlands, as common resident in the northern and as migrants in the southern areas. They are mostly seen in the dense understorey.
